First time buyers: Hiring a removals company

Hiring a removals company

The whole process of purchasing a home is stressful enough, especially if you're new to the property market. We spent all our time trying to get around all the mortgage jargon and legalities, that we totally forgot we actually had to move house at the end of it!

One thing that can take this pressure off you is hiring a removals company, which this installment of my First Time Buyers series is all about!

How to take a break from blogging without losing your readers

How to take a break from blogging without losing your readers

Sometimes, you can find yourself in a position where you need to take a break from blogging. Maybe you're feeling uninspired, burned out, or you've got things going on in your life and your blog just can't be your main priority. Whatever the reasons are, the main reason that stops people from taking a blogging break, is losing their followers.

Keeping your blog updated with fresh content on a regular basis is, by far, the best way to keep your readers engaged, and bloggers can feel pressured to keep up with this. But you can put some plans in place in advance to help combat this. You might have to put some work in before you can take a break, but in the end, it will all be worth it because you won't spend your whole break wondering what's going on with your blog.

So, do you think it's time to take a break? Here's my tips:

First Time Buyers: A Guide to Conveyancing

Conveyancing Explained

So far in my First Time Buyers series, we have spoken about how much it costs to move house and property surveys. Today, I want to talk about conveyancing. This is another one of those things that people kept saying to me and I had no idea what they were talking about.

Turns out it's a pretty important part of the whole home buying process and you are probably not going to be able to do it yourself. You'll need to instruct a conveyancing solicitor. Your estate agent or property developer can point you in the right direction, but I would recommend shopping around a bit first because it can all get a bit pricey. (Yes, more money to part with, will it ever end?!)

When to throw away your make up

Make up products, cosmetics, mascara

Make up doesn't last forever. It's important to make sure you're not using old and expired make up on your face, otherwise you will be prone to transfer of bacteria and all kinds of infections and unfortunately, your products won't come with an expiration date on them. So here's my handy guide on when to throw away your make up.

Think about it logically. Would you drink a pint of milk that was a year old just because it was expensive and in a pretty bottle or had a designer name on the front? No! Obviously it would taste gross and you would be so sick. But just because you can't taste or smell that a product has gone off, still doesn't mean it's going to be good for you.

And if you hoard make up as much as I do, there's going to be stacks of things you have but don't use on a daily basis and you really need to think about how long you have had them before you start using them again.

First Time Buyers: Property Surveys Explained

Property Surveys Explained

It’s all busy, busy in the Dollface camp at the moment as we are finally settling into our new home!

Like I said in my last property post, I’ve been paying close attention to the whole home purchase process, ready to share with you my wealth of knowledge. (Side note: I’m not an expert, this whole thing has been so confusing!)

When we were getting ready to buy our new home we were told by our solicitors that we needed to get loads of surveys done, they threw the costs at us and I was so confused that I just let them get on with it. Although this made things easier for me at the time, when I looked into it afterwards, I realised I could have saved an awful lot of money if I had just taken the time to research about property surveys myself.

So you don’t make the same mistake as I did, here’s everything you need to know about property surveys!
