Bargain makeup brushes for less than £5: the verdict

Wangsaura makeup brushes | cheap makeup brushes

You might have seen on Instagram that I recently purchased 30 new makeup brushes for less than £5. No, I didn't make a typo, I actually spent £5 on 30 makeup brushes.

I usually use a mix of Real Techniques and Spectrum brushes, but only really have one core set, so I was forever battling with the need to wash my brushes and actually use them, as we all know it take 2753020 hours for makeup brushes to dry naturally.

So I decided to spend a few quid on a set that I could use once in a while, giving me the chance to actually clean and dry my brushes properly. The brushes I chose are a brand called Wangsaura and I found them on Amazon. I couldn't argue with the pricing.

The Black & Gold 20pc set cost me £1.50 and the white 10pc set cost me £2.90. The price fluctuates every so often, so don't be surprised if it changes a little either way, but it never seems to go too much higher than that. In fact, I even saw the black and gold set drop down to a penny at one point. A PENNY FOR 20 BRUSHES!

In the sets was a range of different sized and shaped face and eye makeup brushes. Some similar to ones I owned and some were new additions to my collection.

Even if they were crap, I thought they would do for a days use, but when they arrived I was pleasantly surprised. Okay, if you inspect them next to my Real Techniques Brushes then the quality doesn't really compare. Some of the hairs were a bit longer and they needed a bit of tidying up, but considering the price, I wasn't hugely upset.

The brushes are almost as soft as my current set, and they actually apply my makeup just as well. They don't shed, they blend foundation and eye products in a comparable way to my Real Techniques and Spectrum brushes and they performed just as well after I washed and dried them.

I am still struggling to work out how a decent set of brushes are available for less than £5. While I still am a sucker for my existing set, these brushes have made a fantastic back up set with a load of new brushes for me to play with and I'd definitely recommend them if you're looking to do the same, or if you're looking for a substantial set, without the hefty price tag.

You can get the black and gold, and white and gold Wangsaura makeup brushes from Amazon.
