New Year's Resolutions and Blogging Goals for 2016

DollfaceBlogs New Year's Resolutions and Blogging Goals 2016

Well hello! You may (or may not...) have noticed that I've not been the most active blogger for quite a while and while I could sit here and delve into the reasons for that, it probably wouldn't make for the nicest read, especially on New Year's Day!

2015 was a rollercoaster year for me, with some of the highest highs and lowest lows I've ever experienced. In 2015, I married my best friend, met some incredible new people and learned a lot about true friendship, and it's those positive moments and memories I want to bring into 2016.

I started this blog in 2013 and have had a very on/off relationship with the blogging world, going from feeling so involved, to very ostracised at times. I put a lot of pressure on myself to 'keep up with the Joneses' and come down really hard on myself when it doesn't quite go the way I want it to. So, 2016 is going to see me taking my blog back to it's roots and I'll be blogging for myself, and not to keep up with what everyone else is doing.

I've decided to make 5 resolutions this year. They are a mix of personal resolutions and blogging goals for 2016, some can be applied to both, and I wanted to post about them as a reminder and to give me something to look back on at the end of the year!

1. Create a realistic blogging schedule

I have a huge list of posts I'm desperate to write, but I also have a lot going on outside of the blogging world, like an intense full time job, a husband and a house and it's silly to think I have the time to post twice a day like I would like to. So I'm going to take the pressure off and schedule my blog around my life, instead of the other way round.

2. Appreciate the value of true friendship

2015 showed me that it is not about the quantity of people in your life, nor their status or popularity, but the quality of those who want to be around you. It also showed me there are people who are happy to be around you while you are at your best, but they don't stick around when you are at your worst. These aren't people I am willing to waste my time on while I neglect those who truly care for me.

2016 will be for creating adventures, sharing big life moments and enjoying my time with my real friends.

3. Buy our first home

My husband and I have lived together in rented houses for 4 years now but we're so desperate to buy our own home. Let's get on that property ladder!

4. Celebrate my achievements

I'm a very goal orientated person, and last year I saw myself land a job that I love, organise the most perfect wedding and make some really big steps with my blog, but I didn't take time to look back at what I had done and appreciate that I'd done a good job. Instead, I ticked the box and searched incessantly for what I could do next. This year, I want to take a step back and take in where my hard work got me and let that inspire my next move.

5. Be more adventurous with food!

Anyone who knows me will know that I am such a fussy eater! I have a few food intolerances, so there are things I have to avoid, but I then allow this to scare me into believing I can't have so much more, when in actual fact, I'm just being a wimp.

2016 will be the year I can go out to eat more without worrying I won't eat anything on the menu, order something without changing half the ingredients and maybe even post foody pictures on Instagram because my meals won't be as boring! (Except today, I'm ordering pizza right now...)

And they are my 5 New Year's Resolutions & Blogging Goals for 2016! I hope they've inspired you to make your own resolutions!

I'd love to hear yours in the comments below, link me to your blogging goals posts if you've done one!

I hope you all have a wonderful year!

    1. Thanks hun! I think the blog schedule is really going to help me post more regularly instead of swimming in a pool of post ideas, not knowing where to start!
