Guest post: What's in my makeup drawer?

Make up collection

Hello, I’m Tessa and I blog at www.hollysparkle.co.uk. I dabble mostly in fashion on my blog so I was excited to come up with a beauty post for Emma, hope you like it! I decided to have a little rummage around in the depths of my make up draw and see if I could dig out some forgotten treasures or perhaps just clear out some things that are completely naff.

Here's what I found!

MUA Pressed Powder in shade 2

Even though at first glance I could tell this was much too dark for my skin tone to use as a powder, I was a little excited when I found this as it doesn’t look that orange toned in the pan so I thought perhaps I could use it as a contour colour, but alas it was not meant to be, it comes out pretty orange on my face, as a lot of things seem to.

Bourjois Ombre a Paupiere Eyeshadows

I love the packaging of these, aren’t they just super pretty? The colours look really pigmented but it actually took a few layers to get a nice deep colour, particularly the purple shade, which it turns out is more of a grey with purple shimmer which is rather lovely. I tried them out both with and without primer and they last pretty well, I’m definitely going to be popping these into my regular make up collection.

Maxfactor Lilac Wine Lipstick

This was clearly dismissed to my secondary lip colour stash because of the huge shimmer factor (I’m a big fan of completely matte lipsticks), but after applying it and looking at it from a bit of a distance, it’s actually quite a nice colour. I recently picked up the Latte lip tint from Lush which turned out to be waaayyyy more shimmery than I expected but I’ve learned to love it and I think I might actually give Lilac Wine a go.

Avon Illuminating Face Pearls

This seems very warm toned, which often scares me, but I know I used to wear this regularly. I think it’s a pretty great colour for this time of year actually and it’s quite sheer, it could probably be used as a highlight on more tan people. For me, I’m rather liking it to give me a bit of a summery glow.

So what does all this make up look like when put together on my face? I don’t think the results are that bad, are they?
