X Factor Style - Live shows // Week 1

X Factor 2014 Style and Fashion - Live Shows Week 1

I absolutely love this time of year, because not only can I get my favourite knitwear back out and be all snuggly, but all the good TV comes out of hiding. One of my all time favourite viewings has to be X Factor, and it's not only for the odd boyband, but for the style.

X Factor sees a weekly fashion battle between the two female judges, this year being Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Mel B of Spice Girls and general scariness fame. I also LOVE seeing what all the contestants are wearing so I've decided to share my thoughts with you, starting with the judges themselves.

Cheryl Fernandez-Versini

My favourite Cheryl outfit was from Live Show #1 on Saturday. Her sleek, demure Amanda Wakeley showed off her gorgeous figure perfectly and was an amazing start.

I love the mid section of Cheryl's dress as it really breaks up the solid black and shrinks her waist even more.

The great thing about this dress, is the detail makes accessorising so much easier. Usually solid black dresses need some serious accessorising, byt Cheryl's teamed it with some super cute silver jewellery, opting for the 'less is more and I'm still bloody fabulous' look.

I'm in the same boat as most of you and I certainly can't afford to be purchasing designer dresses here, there and everywhere, but if you're as lucky as Cheryl herself, why not pop to Amanda Wakeley and grab your own, or even something else from her amazing Autumn/Winter 14 collection?

Mel B

Melanie Brown, check you out.

I am completely in love with Mel B's asymmetric dress from the X Factor Week 1 results show.

I adore the contrast between the short and long sides, and the striking pattern on the short side is stunning.

The cut of this dress is also so flattering on Mel's curvy figure and she looks so fierce! Especially next to a very uncomfortable looking Louis Walsh.

Again, this dress is on the pricey side and I have managed to track it down. It's by Versus & Anthony Vaccarello and available on Net-A-Porter for only £890!

(Yes, that's all...!)

Stephanie Nala

I love Stephanie Nala's oriental inspired, quirky dress that she wore on Sunday night's results show. She may have been in the bottom two, but she looked fabulous doing it and it meant this gorgeous dress got a bit more air time!

It's also actually helped me find another amazing designer that clearly specialises in unique and quirky looking dresses and outfits.

I'm quite looking forward to seeing the ex-Luminite-turned-solo star's fashion as the weeks progress!

The dress is by Tube Gallery by Phisit and Saxit and is from their Spring/Summer 2014 range. I can't find a price for it or where I can buy it, so if you stumble across it then let me know!

Blonde Electra

I appreciate the Blonde Electra were placed as the quirky, Lady Gaga-esque act in this year's X Factor, but the only time that works is when it's original.

The duo kind of looked like a mix-match of Miley Cyrus cropped tops and neon binkis, Madonna coned bras and general Lady Gaga-ness.

Honestly, in my opinion, it didn't work and it just looked like they were trying too hard to be different. Unfortunately, it was a bit too much and I wonder if that's what contributed to them being the first out. Their singing wasn't as appalling as I had first expected it to be, but perhaps their desire to be original and crazy put people off.

And those glittery green eyebrows are not going to catch on. Who's idea was that!?

Who were your fashion winners and losers from the X Factor first live shows? Have you picked a favourite act yet? Mine is Andrea Faustini, surely he's going to win!
