I've been a naughty little tyke recently. When my last bottle of heat protection spray ran out, I didn't replace it, and that means I've been blasting my hair with all kinds of heat from my hair dryer and straighteners without protecting it. I know, I know, you can shout at me later..!
Anyway, I knew I had to stop it, so forced myself to the shops in my lunch break the other week to buy some more. I didn't have much time, or much money, so I literally mad-dashed into Superdrug and grabbed the cheapest one, which just so happened to be the VO5 Heat Protect Styling Spray.
First thing's first. It's bright pink packaging is lovely, which goes for the rest of the VO5 range as well. Can't say no to having something in a pretty pink bottle on my dressing table!
The heat protect comes in a cute little spray bottle, that sprays it in a light mist. I tend to towel dry my hair then, as I section to blow dry, spray a little on to each section and brush through.
One of the first things I noticed about this spray is that it's really lightweight. My hair is very fine, so too many products or anything too heavy can drag it down and make it look dull and greasy, even if I've just washed it. I certainly didn't feel that was the case with the VO5 heat spray. As it showers the hair in a mist, rather than a direct squirt, it spreads it out, and brushing through just allows me to make sure it is even.
The spray claims to be a bit of a multi-purpose product, by not only protecting hair from heat, but also leave your hair ultra soft with a lovely shine, which is something I definitely noticed after the first blow dry! My hair was almost instantly silky smooth and soft, which is lovely for when I want to curl my hair, as it just adds a little extra softness and glam to the look,
As I hadn't been using heat protection spray for a while, my hair was certainly suffering with damage, especially to the ends! There's not much you can do with split ends once they are split, except get them chopped off, so I made sure I got my hair cut before using, but even still the quality of my hair was definitely suffering.
I've now been using the VO5 heat protect styling spray for just over two weeks, everytime I wash my hair, and the improvement in the quality of my hair is just amazing. It looks so much healthier, and the added shine gives it even more of a boost. It's even started to get some more of it's natural volume back into it, which isn't much anyway so imagine how flat and lifeless it's been looking while I've been burning it to death!
I'd definitely recommend the VO5 heat protect styling spray as something you should be using all of the time, and if you don't use any heat protection spray at all, then take my advice and please do. You'll only regret it when your hair starts looking sad!
The VO5 heat protect styling spray is £2.99 for a 200ml bottle from Superdrug.
