VO5 Plump it Up Dry Backcomb Spray Review

VO5 plump it up dry back comb spray

I bought the VO5 plump it up dry backcomb spray absolutely ages ago and then read a load of bad reviews, so kind of shoved it to the back of my drawer and never really used. It wasn't until recently that I found it and thought I may as well give it a go and see what happens. I was delightfully surprised by the results I got!

My hair is so flat, even if I use a lot of volumising shampoo and conditioner or blow dry my head upside down. It takes forever to get a bit of volume in there and even when I do, it falls flat about an hour later which is not ideal!

Backcombing is the only way I've managed to get a bit of oomph into my hair and I'm sure the amount I do is probably not good for my locks, so I definitely need to either embrace the flatness or find a way around it!

When I used Vo5 plump it up, I sectioned my hair as I usually would to straighten and back comb, but instead, I sprayed a generous amount to the underside of the hair section, at the roots.

I then held it out for a moment, smoothing the back comb spray through until it had dried, and repeated this on all section of my hair. Once I was finished, I smoothed it over with a brush and blasted it upside down with a little hair spray.

Time to see the results! This is my boring, flat hair after a blowdry.

And this is my plumped up, volume-filled hair, after I used the vo5 plump it up spray!

I'm sure you will agree, it has actually worked. And the best thing about it is that it stays! I'm not sure if that was the spray itself or a combination of the spray and my generous blast of hairspray, but either way, I didn't look like I had flat, boring hair for an entire evening!

I am now really annoyed at myself for not trying it out before, I could have had plenty of oomph for my hair for much longer! Oh well, I've discovered it now, at least!

One other fab thing - it's currently on offer in both Boots and Superdrug! The VO5 plump it up dry back comb spray is currently £4.19 at Boots.*

    1. A fair amount of conditioner will get rid of it, but if you're worried about trying it then you should try this spray! It's a complete replacement so no actual back combing is needed!

Thanks for your comment hun :) xxx

  3. Wow it looks like it really works. I think I'll have to invest. To achieve this look I have to spend the entire day in rollers. I will pick it up next time I'm in Asda, the VO5 is usually on offer in there xx

    1. I bet you will be surprised hun! My hair is really fine, so normal backcombing will usually fall out and go flat very quickly, but this just worked a dream!
