Today, I am reviewing the MUA Cosmetics Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in black. You can win one of these, along with two amazing eye palettes and one gorgeous lip palette (also from MUA) in my Mega MUA Giveaway! (Competition closes 31 Jan 2014).
This liquid eyeliner is one of my absolute favourite discoveries of 2013. Not only is it only £1, it does the job and lasts a fair while!
It provides quite a thin layer, so for a more intense black, I find that I will need to use a couple of layers.. This is not a negative point at all. Generally, I prefer to build up on products like this. I would much prefer a thinner liquid to something a bit thicker and stodgier, it's less likely to end up in smudges, and won't take ages to dry!
This is my favourite bit. I am so fed up of the liquid eyeliner brushes that are a little bit stumpy and have no flexibility. I prefer to have quite a thin line of eyeliner, and unless I've got about 20 minutes to spare, those brushes never get it perfect in time. This brush, however, is longer, thinner and much more flexible, whilst still being strong enough to craft a lovely neat line. Top marks, MUA!
Initially, I thought that this would be a bit of a pain, since the packaging was more angular than your usual, smooth and rounded liquid eyeliner bottle, but I was pleasantly surprised. It's actually not too difficult to use and the angular design actually provides more grip so it becomes easier to maneuver!
The mix of the brush and the thin layering of this eyeliner allows you to create thinner lines and more precise flicks. After about 2-3 layers, the colour is intense enough to be noticeable and as it dries relatively quickly, there is minimal smudge risk! I'm really please with how it looks!
I can't fault this eyeliner for it's ability to last all day. The colour does fade slightly, but the line is always completely in tact when I get home. It doesn't run and I am generally really pleased with how good it looks after a long period of time.
I do always wonder about how difficult waterproof products will be to remove when I first use them and I'll be honest, my experience with cheaper waterproof products have not been great. I've ended up with sore eyes from having to work at the area too much to remove, or ended up with black stains all over my face. There's being waterproof, and then there is being ridiculous... However, this waterproof eyeliner does come off easily with some decent eye make up remover!
Quality and value for money
As I mentioned before, the MUA Cosmetics waterproof liquid eyeliner is only £1 from Superdrug stores, and considering everything I have already spoken about, I think you will agree that this is absolutely brilliant value for money. The quality of everything from the packaging, to the product itself is great quality and you will be hard-pushed to find another similar product that works as well for such low cost.
