Beauty Protector 'Protect and Detangle' leave in conditioner review

Beauty Protector Protect and Detangle leave in conditioner review

This sample of the Beauty Protector 'protect and detangle' leave in conditioner was included in my November Birchbox and I was really excited to try it out.

You'll have heard me complaining a lot about my hair. It's an absolute nightmare. My hair is really, really fine and flat, but there is quite a lot of it. Because of this, it's gets tangled and knotty very quickly. Even using lots of normal conditioner when I was it doesn't really help, I still can't get a brush through it properly when it's wet. I also struggle when it's dry, the slightest movement tangles it right back up again, making styling it, or even wearing it down, a massive task.

So, when I found out that the protect and detangle leave in conditioner promised to detangle hair as well as protect from heat, help seal cuticles and look after coloured hair, I was sold immediately and tried it out straight away.

Dr Jart+ v7 Balancing Toner Review

Dr Jart+ V7 Balancing Toner Review

I tend to change my skincare up around this time of year, only really to make sure my skin is fully protected as it gets colder, but I also use this time to experiment with new products, which usually ends up in a total overhaul of my permanent skincare routine.

Recently, I was sent the Dr Jart+ v7 balancing toner in my November Birchbox, so thought I would give it a go!

Dr Jart+'s V7 range have a revolutionary 7 Vitamin complex that sets out to tackle a huge range of skin issues. So what are the vitamins and what do they do?

Top 10 tips for bloggers on twitter

Twitter advice for bloggers

It's been a while since I wrote another post for my blogging tips series, so I thought I would jump straight back in there with a big one! This time, I'll be focusing on best practice for bloggers on twitter.

So, how can you get people from twitter onto your blog?

There are so many different tips floating around the blogging universe on how to use twitter for blogging, and most people tend to think they need a million followers before twitter will become a useful tool for promoting their blog, but in fact, that's not necessarily the case. It might be better said that twitter is one of the best places to start driving traffic to your blog.

Write good content, promote it well and the followers will come to you. (Okay, that makes it sound easy peasy, but it does take a fair bit of work).

As I like to do at the beginning of these posts, I'll just post a little disclaimers. I'm no expert, and I am fully aware I'm not the biggest blogger, nor do I have the biggest twitter following. But I do have a few years' experience of blogging as well as working in marketing so I have picked up a few hints and tips along the way. Some of which I do, and some I don't, but not for any other reason than I don't have time. You don't have to take my advice as bible, or you might have different advice that you would give, and if that's the case, I would love to hear it in the comments section of this post. Bloggers helping bloggers and all that.

Onto the matter at hand, let's get tweeting...

The countdown is well and truly on, as it's now 8 months until my wedding day! Eeeeeek!

We've got a few bits sorted now. The wedding venue is booked and we've gone for the absolutely stunning Westonbirt School in Gloucestershire, and we've also booked our photographer; the fabulous Dan Morris! (Did I mention he just won two wedding industry awards for best photographer? Well I did now! Congratulations Dan!)

I posted the other day about the Boohoo dress I wore for my pre wedding shoot, and now you can see it in all it's glory in the final photographs!

Also, if you like our outfits, I've linked to everything at the bottom of this post so you can check them out for yourself!

DollfaceBlogs new look - thanks to PipDig

Customer blogger and wordpress layouts by PipDig

You might have noticed that things are looking a little different on DollfaceBlogs at the mo. I've always created my own layouts using my basic knowledge of HTML and web design which I have been teaching myself since the ripe old age of 14. However, things are a bit more complicated to achieve now and there are lots of things I just can't get my head around.

I spent a while trying to create the look I wanted for my blog, but just couldn't quite get the coding and design right, which really began to bug me as it was so close, but still not what I wanted.

I decided to have a look around at the vast array of designers and layout Gods that are drifting around the internet and stumbled across the wonderful PipDig. PipDig have a lovely selection of pre-made layout templates for Blogger and Wordpress hosted blogs, that can be used as is, or altered slightly to get the exact look you are after. If you can't find anything already showing on their website, they also offer a custom design service, so you really can get your blog exactly the way you want it.

My thoughts on that Zoella article

Independent Voices Zoella Article by Chloe Hamilton

Twitter pretty much exploded today after Independent Voices published an article about how Zoe Sugg, aka Zoella, was not the type of role model teenage girls should have. While I appreciate it is an opinion piece, the article not only angered me for being poorly researched, (as a Journalism graduate, these things bother me. Opinion pieces still need research), but also for that fact it was contradictory, derogatory and offensive. So here's my note to Chloe Hamilton.

My first point is going to be, that for an article that states that Zoe is contradicting everything about feminism, it should not have begun with a personal attack on her looks. The article does go on to describe the fact she is open about her anxiety, so why on earth would it then be okay to target her and make inexcusable comments about the way she looks? That is plain bullying and is not acceptable. Is this not also anti-feminist? Should we not be supporting and celebrating a young woman who has embraced the opportunities presented to her and used them to create a better life for herself and the hope to inspire others?

So who actually is the anti-feminist here? Zoe, or the journalist who feels a personal attack on another female, just because they don't like what they do, in a publicly aired opinion piece?

Autumn Tag

Autumn Leaves

I was tagged by the gorgeous Samantha from Coco Butter Blog (who, coincidentally, is one of my October advertisers!) to do the Autumn Tag, which I thought was a fab idea! I haven't done a tag for so long, and I love Autumn, so I thought I'd give it a go!

As much as I love Summer, I think I actually prefer Autumn. I love the crisp air, and the crunchy leaves and just the whole aura around this time of year. I'm not such a fan of the wind and rain, but that does give me an excuse to stay wrapped up nice and warm in my house watching all my favourite tv shows, which seem to all start at the end of Summer/beginning of Autumn! (X Factor being my favourite!)

So, here we go with the Autumn Tag! Watch out at the bottom of the post in case I have tagged you!

X Factor Style - Live Shows // Week 2

X Factor Style and Fashion - Live Shows Week 2

Another weekend done, another week of X Factor finished, so it's time for my style round up of the X Factor live shows - week 2! Did you all watch? Of course you did! Were you shocked by the eliminations, or did you expect it?

In my honest opinion, I wasn't expecting Chloe Jasmine to be in the bottom two, but I did think her 'save me' performance was terrible. She deserved to go after that. I think Stereo Kicks are on their last legs as well I'm afraid. There's just too many of them and it's difficult to watch!

Anyway, onto what we are actually here to talk about; the fashion! If you missed my style round up from week one, click here to take a look.

Makeup Revolution Ultra Bronze Bronzer Review

Makeup Revolution Ultra Bronze Bronzer

Makeup Revolution is one of my favourite brands at the moment. Not only are their products extremely affordable and readily available online and in most Superdrug stores, they are also amazing quality. I'm yet to be disappointed by a Makeup Revolution product!

I've reviewed a couple of Makeup Revolution palettes before, but this time I've discovered their Ultra Bronze bronzer and I can't get enough of it so decided to review it for you.

5 things to do after you have written a blog post

5 things to do after you have written a blog post

As part of my day job as a Marketing Executive, I've been lucky enough to get some great experience and go on some great courses all about social media, blogging and digital marketing to help me progress professionally. It's only recently that I asked myself a couple of questions.

Firstly, why don't I use the same methods I do at work to market my blog?! Rookie mistake, if ever there was one! And secondly, why am I not sharing this knowledge with my fellow bloggers?!

So I'm going to regularly start posting some blogging tips using methods and little gems of wisdom I've picked up along the way! You'll also start to see me use some of these bits and bobs while I am posting and promoting my blog, so you can see how they are done and whether they are working (or not, which I hope isn't the case!).

I'm going to start off pretty easy, with a checklist of things you should do after you have written your blog post. Essentially, it's a list of 5 things you should do to help promote your latest blog post!

Pond's Institute Cold Cream Cleanser and Eye Contour Cream review*

Pond's Institute Cleansing Cold Cream and Eye Contour Cream Review

Skincare is a hot topic for me at the moment, especially with my recent breakout! I've completely restocked my skincare routine with some amazing new products that have been working wonders on my poorly skin, and these two have been too fabulous not to tell you about.

Pond's Institute is a brand that has been around for a while, and I'm not going to lie, I think my gran uses it, so the teenage me has always skipped past it in the drug store because obviously it's made for older people, right? COMPLETELY WRONG.

Now I've tried out the cold cream cleanser and the eye contour cream, I've been kicking myself for not paying attention sooner. Looks like my Gran knows what she's talking about after all. (Just don't tell her I said so!)

It looks like Pond's has recently undergone a bit of a revamp, because I'm sure they didn't look like this before. The cleansing cold cream pot looks gorgeous on my dresser, and the eye contour cream is now in a little tube, which makes it fab for popping in my handbag or travel bag, and also it helps you moderate how much you are using.

I'll start with the cleansing cold cream. The idea behind this is to apply straight onto your skin, whether your are wearing make up or not, and then you can either remove with cotton wool, or with a warm, damp flannel. I tend to go for the flannel as I just feel a bit more refreshed after doing so, especially in the morning.

Montagne Jeunesse face masks review and giveaway

Montagne Jeunesse Face Masks

Time for another, long overdue, giveaway my beautiful dolls! If you fancy winning yourself a bunch of Montagne Jeunesse (You may now know them as 7th Heaven) face mask goodies, then keep reading! Before we get to that, I'm going to be reviewing the very products you could be winning!

I received the Black Seaweed Peel Off Mask, Hot Spring Sauna Mask and Brazilian Mud Fabric Masque!

Montagne Jeunesse Black Seaweed Peel Off Face MaskFirst up, I tried out the Black Seaweed Peel Off Mask. What I really like about this mask is that it's designed so you can use it every week, which means I need to stock up!

It's full of natural ingredients, apparently straight from the Welsh seaside! It certainly smells refreshing and seaweed-y, and it's actually quite pleasant.

This is an ultra cleansing mask, which my skin was in desperate need of. I've been suffering with a few really angry, red spots at the moment, so they needed to chill out!

I applied the mask, super easily, and let it dry for 15 minutes, before peeling off. I very almost peeled it off in one go, but I think I got a tad excited and ruined it for myself. Nevertheless, it's pretty easy to remove and since it's black, it's really easy to spot if you've missed any bits.

Jica Lash Extensions review*

Jica Lash Extensions

If only getting eyelash extensions was cheap, I would get them done all the time, but on my budget at the moment, my trips to the salon have definitely been sacrificed! So, in order to make up for this, I've been on the hunt for products that can help me get my salon treatments at home.

First stop was definitely finding an alternative eyelash extensions treatment. I actually haven't been getting these done for a while but I really miss not having to deal with the faff of coats and coats of mascara, or battling with stick on lashes all the time.

Jica Lash Extensions

Jica Lash Extensions is a little bottle of natural fibres that are designed to latch onto your own lashes and give you longer and fuller looking lashes. The bottle is quite small, and inside is a little mascara wand that picks up the fibres and lets you brush them on just as you would with your mascara.

Makeup Revolution Salvation Palette Dia de los Muertos Review and Swatches*

Makeup Revolution - Dia de los Muertos Eyeshadow Palette

In case you hadn't realised, I love a bargain when it comes to makeup, and that bargain is made even better when the actual product is everything you wanted it to be and more. Makeup Revolution is currently one of my favourite brands. They are such great value for money, and their products are amazing. I've just reviewed their Acid Brights Palette and now is the turn of the Makeup Revolution Salvation Palette Dia de los Muertos.

For a start, I love the design on the packaging. Usually I just throw away boxes that palettes come in, because they end up being a little bit of a hassle, but I'm keeping this one because I love the design! The actual palette case is a smooth and shiny black case, which is really sleek.

Barry M Brow Kit Review

Barry M Brow Kit | DollfaceBlogs

Since stopping my HD brow appointments, my brows became a tad unruly. They were bushy, uneven and just not in great shape, or any shape for that matter! I decided it was about time that I got myself a little brow kit so I could sort the bad boys out! Originally, I was going to opt for something super cheap, just to see how it went, so headed straight for the MUA counter. However, my local Superdrug had about 3 on the shelf, all of which had been opened and either had tools taken out of them, or  had clearly been used. Determined that I wasn't going to leave without one, I ended up opting for the Barry M Brow Kit.

Inside this cute little kit, is a tinted eyebrow wax, a deep brown powder and a highlighting powder as well as a double ended angled brush and a set of mini tweezers. Ooh and a handy little mirror so you can preen your brows on the go!

Best pinterest accounts to follow when planning your wedding

Best pinterest accounts to follow when planning your wedding | DollfaceBlogs

You may have been planning your perfect wedding since your were about 6 years old, but every now and again, a bride to be will need a bit of wedding inspiration.

There are plenty of wedding inspiration sites, and the key is to not get too blinded by all the wonderful ideas that are floating around the internet. That's exactly what I did. I spent hours searching for wedding inspiration only to have filled my brain with a million and one ideas I wanted, none of which actually fitted together, nor did I have the budget.

I decided to get a bit smarter. I took a quick break from wedding planning and focused on a few other bits and bobs. When I cam back to it, I decided to start with a clean slate and head straight to Pinterest to start looking for inspiration. I filtered through many of the popular wedding Pinterest accounts and started following, pinning and putting together my own wedding boards and eventually found myself re-visiting the same few wedding pinners for my ideas and inspiration.

I thought I would share my favourite 5 wedding Pinterest boards with you, so you can start getting some wedding tips and adding to your own wedding boards!

Lauren's Way Solution 60 Mousse Tan Review*

Lauren's Way Solution 60 tan rapid mousse

If you read my blog a lot, you know I regularly talk about tanning tips and tanning products, so it's safe to say i love a bit of fake tan. This is mainly because my poor, pasty skin, doesn't tan well naturally, so faking it is the only way!

I have tried so many different types of tanning products, and a tanning mousse is definitely my favourite because of the minimal mess and lower risk of streaks. I'm also a fan of these new tans that claim to have worked their magic in an hour because it means I can still find time to tan when I'm super busy and I don't have to wait 4 hours for it to take effect!

So with that in mind, when the gorgeous people from Lauren's Way asked if I wanted to try out their Solution 60 Tanning Mousse, I jumped at the chance!

In case you don't already know, Lauren's Way is the beauty brand fronted by original TOWIE girl (and Mark Wright's ex) Lauren Goodger. the brand specialises in tan, lashes and hair extensions and is available for both professional and personal use. That means that the product you are buying to use at home, is just as good quality as the one they would use in the salon!

Keep reading to find out what I thought of the solution 60 tan AND to grab an exclusive 20% discount on Lauren's Way tan, lashes and hair products!

How to get the Perfect Tan

Perfect fake tan | Self tanning tips

Although the sun has been popping it's beautiful head out for us all to enjoy, if you are anything like me, a lovely, natural tan can still be difficult to achieve. If it's not turning bright red, my skin tends to stay the same colour, even after a marathon sunbathing session (with correct SPF usage, of course).

So, in order to keep up with my gorgeously tanned friends, I need a little help from a bottle and I'd also like to make sure nobody notices I've been faking it unless I have actually asked them round to help me reach that awkward part on my back that I can never reach by myself.

The key to fake tanning is all in the preparation, but there are also a few application and after-care tips that can help you get the perfect tan, and make it last! They are also great for general skincare, so even if you aren't tanning, some of these prep tips will still give you gloriously glowing skin!

Eucerin DermoPURIFYER Cleanser Review*

Eucerin DermoPURIFYER Cleanser

Hello dolls!

I am finally back from the perils of studying for my final exams; they are now over! Thank god for that!

So, I thought as my first post back for you, I would get straight back into reviewing, because I haven't told you about products I've been loving recently!

Not long ago, I was sent Eucerin's DermoPURIFYER Cleanser by the gorgeous people at Escentual. It was amazing timing as well, my skin was looking AWFUL, thanks to long days and nights studying and lots of stress. My face was beginning to look like a join the dots puzzle... great!

The bottle says that Eucerin DermoPURIFYER Cleanser effectively, yet gently eliminates excess sebum while removing dirt and make-up thanks to its soap-free formula.

Cocoa Brown Tough Stuff Review

Cocoa Brown Tough Stuff
As much as I love tanning, I do not enjoy the patchy stages you sometimes end up with when you are trying to remove tan. No matter how well you have prepped your skin or how well you have looked after your tan, sometimes those stubborn bits just fancy sticking around and are such a pain to remove! If you apply more tan over the top, they just end up darker, and then you are in for one almighty patchy tan!

If you read one of my recent posts, you will know that I went to the Cocoa Brown Spring/Summer 14 product launch in London. While I was there, the lovely ladies let me know all about Cocoa Brown Tough Stuff and promised me it would remove my old tan AND give me a great base for my new tan. Sounds dreamy.

There are plenty of decent exfoliators about, but Cocoa Brown's Tough Stuff is designed as a 'no nonsense, 3 in 1 scrub that prepares your skin for tanning, removes stubborn tan and is a fabulous exfoliating body treatment.'

Currently, I am rocking a pretty patchy tan, which seems to be worse around my neck and chest area. Bloody fantastic... So let's give this bad boy a go!

McBusted Tour 2014
If I asked you to pick a time from your childhood or teenage years that you will never forget and you look back and wish you could do it all over again? Maybe you had an amazing summer with your best friends where you spent the whole time together doing crazy things? Maybe you took part in something that you really enjoyed?

For me, mine is a little different to most people I speak to. If I look back at my teenage years there is one thing that sticks out. I spent all my spare time and money doing this, I made some amazing friends and created some amazing memories by doing this. The reason I got my first job was so I could afford to do this more often.

As sad as this may seem to a lot of you, and I don't think I ever cared if people wanted to judge me for it, because I had more fun that I can even express in words.

Busted CD singles
Back in 2002, I was 13 years old absolutely in love with Busted. I spent an awful lot of time online on their forums, chatting to other Busted fans and listening to their music.

I used to go into Woolworths and pre-order their singles on CD (or even tape, as you can see from my picture!).

This was the time when bands used to release 3 or 4 different versions of their singles, with different bonus tracks. I would always order all of the versions; after all, I didn't want to miss ANY bonus track.

Wilkinson Sword Intuition Naturals Sensitive Care Razor Review

Wilkinson Sword Intuition Naturals Sensitive Care Razor review
Wilkinson Sword Intuition Naturals Sensitive Care Razor review
Even though it's winter, I like to keep my legs smooth and hairless so my skin still feels soft, and around this time of year I certainly don't have the spare cash to be visiting the salon for regular waxing, nor can I be bothered to do it myself, so I usually revert to razors.

Razors can always be a little hit and miss. The good ones are really great but can sometimes cost an arm and a leg to replace blades when you need to and the affordable ones don't always do the best job.

Well, what if I told you that I had found an affordable razor, with affordable replacement blades and it did an amazing job? The Wilkinson Sword Intuition Naturals Sensitive Care Razor (a bit of a mouthful, I know!) is leaps and bounds ahead of any razor I have tried before!
