Usually, I tend to sway more towards making a feature out of my eyes, rather than my lips. I'm not sure why, but I suppose it is habit! This means I'm not massive on lipsticks. I've got a fair few, and a few lipglosses/lipliners etc, I just never use them. So I've decided, in a bid to play around with my looks a little more, that I would start using these poor lip products that stay tucked away.
I decided to start with the Gosh Cosmetics Velvet Touch Lipstick. I have shade 148, Sundown. In the tube, this looks like quite a bold copper/auburn colour, which would be lovely for Autumn (I'm beginning to get annoyed that I'm only just trying it out now!).
Firstly, I love the packaging. The plain bold tube with the contrasting pattern on the lid is really cute. Top marks Gosh!
Initially, being a non-lipstick wearer, I immediately felt the colour looks too bold for me. I have naturally quite pale skin, and haven't had the fake tan out for a while, so I'm still rocking my natural pasty-ness and I thought a bold colour would make me look more pale.
Never one to be put off by my initial feelings, I still gave it a go and was quite shocked when I swatched it.
I would never layer on lipstick thickly, so I have tried to swatch the same amount as I would apply to my lips and I was pleasantly surprised. It actually comes off as quite a light hint of colour and lots of shimmer.
This restored my confidence in the colour and I was straight off with applying. I even applied a little more than I normally would.
It was quite a natural looking colour, with autumnal and coppery hints as well as a lovely gloss given off by the glitter and shimmer.
I really liked it, to the point that I am actually wearing it today, with my day makeup, and I don't feel like I've overdone the look for a day sat at my desk.
So it's safe to say my move towards using more lip products has started with a high!
