Summer Beauty Routine: A Few Items To Make It Through The Heat!

Summer. All year long we wait for the heat. Longing to go out in little more than a tank top and short shorts. We do have to make sure that our beauty routine is updated so that our skin doesn’t suffer from the strong summer sun, harsh sand we may encounter on vacation and the heat that melts our makeup. What are the essential items in a blockbuster beauty bag?

To change up our summer beauty, we need to lighten up our products. That means wearing fewer products and making sure the ones we use are specifically made for long wear, swimming, perspiring and the heat. In the list below are just a few products that I have found work really well in all of these situations.

La Roche-Posay Anthelios 50 Mineral Ultra Light Sunscreen Fluid SPF 50

Sunscreen: A must! Always cover exposed (and ideally non-exposed skin) with sunscreen.

And this product should be broad-spectrum, SPF 30. The better ones are mineral based, made with titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, so that everyone can use them.

A great one that you can get just at the pharmacie is La Roche-Posay Anthelios 50 Mineral Ultra Light Sunscreen Fluid SPF 50. Granted it’s a little on the pricey side, but it has some of the better ingredients help keep they sun’s rays at bay.

To cover any imperfections and keep your skin looking perfect and glowing, Bobbi Brown’s BB Cream SPF 35 is great. This is one of the ONLY BB creams I like.

It “moisturizes, perfects and protects”. It really does have great coverage. I love it. This cream also comes in 9 shades, so most people should be able to get a color match.

The SPF is broad spectrum but is not mineral based. It is not geared for swimming so much but there are very few foundation types creams that are. Tarte, Kat VonD  and Make Up For Ever do, but the coverage is extremely opaque.

Too Faced’s Milk Chocolate Soleil Light/Medium Matte Bronzer

Summer almost screams the word “bronze”! Some feel they need to do the fake tan thing, but I like to use a bronzer.

I am fairly pale and the only bronzer that I have found that is even remotely good looking on my pale pallor is Too Faced’s Milk Chocolate Soleil Light/Medium Matte Bronzer.

Too Faced is known for their bronzers. They have several, so I think you would be able to find your match. Personally, I like a matte color that isn’t too orange-ish. And who doesn’t like the idea of milk-chocolate!!!! This one actually has real cocoa powder infused into the bronzer. The pigments are also long wearing.

Make Up For Ever Aqua Smoky Lash

Mascara is another great product that will help wake up your eyes, making them look large.

It should be waterproof, so that it can withstand the heat, sweat and swimming that you will likely be doing.

I’m going to recommend Make Up For Ever Aqua Smoky Lash.

This is will resist sweat, swim and and summer!

It has volume and delivers length. High intensity pigments make it smoky so that your eyes will look crazy gorgeous! It is available through Sephora.

Stila Color Balm Lipstick

One more item that is a must for your summer beauty routine is a lip product. The newer enhanced lip balms are great for summer!

They are not sticky like lip gloss, some of them come with sunscreen and these newer ones come in a bevy of fabulous colors that are sure to suit any skin tone and mood!

One brand that has a great version is Stila. Their Color Balm Lipstick is creamy, full of pigment, has the shine of a gloss and comes in 15 colors! There are other companies that make lip balm products, but from what I hear, Stila does it best.

Of course, these products are just some of the amazing plethora of products that have come out on the market each Summer beauty season for us to use specifically in our Summer beauty routine. Beauty companies do plenty of research to see what we, the consumer, really want to use.

The companies ARE getting better mind you. The products that are coming out are some of the best that I have ever seen!

Enjoy your Summer. Wear sunscreen to protect your delicate skin. And have fun with your beauty routine!
