Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Black Gel Eyeliner Review

Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Black Gel Eyeliner

I bought Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Black Gel Eyeliner about a month ago and just haven't got round to uploading my review about it, so here it is at last!

I am a big fan of eye cosmetics and have tons of different liquid liners, pencil liners, mascaras, eye shadows etc etc and use a big combination of these every day. I have been looking for a good and reasonably priced gel liner to add to my collection for a while, which is what prompted me to buy this one.

The pack contains a small pot (2.8g) of black gel eyeliner and a specially designed application brush. The pot itself is really cute and I absolutely love it.

The brush is very quite small and the bristles are soft, tapered and densely packed to enable you to create thin and thick lines or shapes, depending on what look you are going for.

The quality of the gel itself is really good. it is easy to pick up on the brush and also to wipe off if you take a little too much.

I started applying after my moisturiser/foundation routine as normal, and I also added a small amount of warm toast eye shadow by Colourmatix, which is very neutral and just added a matte look to my eye lid.

I found it really simple to apply the gel. The brush glides across your eyelid, making it super simple and I was able to get really close to the lash line. Once applied, the gel dried in a flash so I managed to avoid any smudging in the application process.

I found it quite tricky to create a smooth line on my first few tries, but I think that was just because I wasn't used to using a brush like this for liner and i eventually cracked it.

I decided to finish one eye so I could show you the illusion this liner can make around the eye if applied correctly. I added in my usual pencil liner underneath the eye and a single coat of mascara.

As you can see from the picture, my eye looks wider and more defined, which is obviously the intention of any liner or eye cosmetic. I was just really impressed with the difference that this product made.

I finished the look and carried on with my day and am pleased to report that there were no signs of cracking, smudging or fading, even after a full day out at work!

The product is easily removed with eye make up remover, or wipes, as opposed to some other eye cosmetics I have tried that can end up leaving a greyish smudge around the eye, even after a good scrub!

As I said before, I have had this product for little over a month now and another point to note is that is hasn't dried up at all. A lot of liquid liners I have used in the past have dried up after a month or so, even if there should have been plenty of use left in it. My Maybelline gel is still going strong and I am really pleased!
Overall, I am really impressed with the Maybelline gel liner and it has become a firm favourite in my daily make up routine!

If you want to get if your yourself, you can get yours from Superdrug for just £7.99.
Have you tried this, or any other gel eyeliners? What did you think? Let me know in the comments, or tweet me @DollfaceEmmy.

I have already done a Leibster award post, but have had a couple of other comments/emails about new ones since. I'll take a look at yours but may not do another one for a little while :)
